Why can't I purchase these products online?
The interior design industry has traditionally been a wholesale, “trade-only,” world, meaning only interior designers knew where, what, how, and why to buy the best home furnishing products. The truth is, buying these products is tricky because you customize them to your taste. For example, if you want a sofa, not only do you have to specify everything down to the nail heads, but you also have to purchase the fabric separately and send and track the shipment to the sofa manufacturer. And that's all on top of making a good design decision in the first place so you don't waste money, setting up a local white glove receiver to transport the sofa to your home, and making sure the sofa will fit in your front door (no returns!). Oh, and did we mention handling sales tax? So, in general, interior design does not translate to simple e-commerce, yet.
Why are products missing the price?
If you don't see a price, then the manufacturer has chosen not to make pricing public. We strongly encourage manufacturers to share their pricing. However, many fear that the pricing will be misunderstood since customizations can drastically affect price.
How do I get the price?
By selecting a product and starting an inquiry, either we will send you the estimated price or we will distribute your inquiry (anonymously) to a group of designers who can help you. A maximum of two will respond to you.
Who can use this service?
This service is for people who are not already working with a designer and who are in the market to buy an upscale home furnishings product. Please do not submit an inquiry if you are not in this camp. Your designer may be on our distribution list and we may post your inquiry (anonymously) in a public forum. Product quotes take on average an hour of work, and we want to respect the time of our professional members. Please do not abuse this service or you may lose the privilege to submit inquiries.
Why should I use this Decorati service?
If you are in the market for an upscale home furnishings product, like a lamp, side table, or a couple yards of fabric, this is a less expensive and less time consuming way to purchase 1-2 pieces than finding and hiring a designer.
