The inspiration was basketweave, a criss-cross pattern in continual use since humans first discovered the magic of weft and warp. Ours, however, is nothing like your distant ancestor’s basketweave. For one thing, it’s not a weave at all but an embossed technology leather. For another, we reduced the pattern scale, yielding a more sophisticated look — simple but still textural. Lastly, we rendered it in a palette of traditional leather tones and lush dull metallics. Yes, the influence is ancient, but the result is a decidedly contemporary textile.
